From Internship to Career: My Journey at PT DAI

For a year filled with challenges and learning opportunities, I, Raka Amin Nur Soleh, an Information Technology student from Universitas Ardhirajasa Reswara Sanjaya, had the chance to intern at PT Doa Anak Indonesia (DAI). This experience not only allowed me to apply the knowledge I gained from university but also opened my eyes to the real-world work culture and dynamics. Excitingly, I wasn't alone on this internship journey. I was accompanied by my classmate, Taufan Prawira Astori. Together, we explored the real world of work and supported each other.

My internship journey began in the JLB business unit, a division focused on selling electronic products and computers. Here, I was entrusted with directly participating in the development of the JLB e-commerce website. My primary task was to design a website interface that was not only visually appealing but also user-friendly and easy for administrators to manage.

To achieve this, I utilized the WordPress platform and the WooCommerce plugin. WordPress is a highly popular and flexible content management system (CMS). With WordPress, I could build the basic website structure and manage content easily. WooCommerce, on the other hand, is a plugin specifically designed to transform WordPress into a full-fledged e-commerce platform. This plugin provides various features needed to run an online store, such as shopping carts, payment processing, and product management.

In this project, I developed several additional features by installing various plugins, including:

• WP Rocket: A caching plugin that speeds up website loading.
• WooCommerce PDF Invoices & Packing Slips: This plugin automatically generates PDF invoices and packing slips for each new order, which is very useful for administrative and shipping purposes.
• WooCommerce Social Login: With this plugin, customers can log in to the website using their social media accounts (such as Facebook, Google, or Instagram), making the registration process easier and faster.
• Yoast SEO: This plugin helps optimize the website for search engines (SEO) so that the JLB website can be easily found by potential customers.

One of the biggest challenges at this stage was optimizing website performance. Even though I was already using a caching plugin like WP Rocket, the website still felt slow, especially when there were many visitors. This was caused by several factors, such as a large number of images, excessive use of plugins, or inadequate hosting.

Additionally, I had the opportunity to be involved in JLB's promotional activities and social media content creation. I created various types of content, ranging from graphic design to engaging short videos. The goal was to increase JLB's brand awareness and attract more customers.

In September, I had the chance to join the TechnoGros team. Here, I was involved in a large-scale laptop rental procurement project. My tasks included installing operating systems, configuring software, and setting up data security on various types of laptops. This project taught me the importance of meticulousness and the ability to work under pressure, given the limited time and the number of devices that needed to be configured. One of the biggest challenges in this project was ensuring that all laptops had the same configuration and functioned properly, despite having different types. The laptop rental project taught me the importance of clear standard operating procedures (SOPs). With SOPs in place, installation and configuration processes could be carried out efficiently and consistently.

Then, at the beginning of 2025, I received a job contract offer as an IT Support at PT DAI. This marked the culmination of my internship journey. I was entrusted with building an e-commerce website for a new business unit, MD COMP 2. Officially becoming part of the PT DAI team, I am even more motivated to continue learning and developing myself. I have many plans to contribute to the company's growth, such as optimizing existing IT systems, developing new applications, and providing innovative solutions for customers. I am confident that the internship experience I have gained will be an invaluable asset in achieving these goals.

During my internship at PT DAI, I not only acquired technical skills such as website development, database management, and network configuration but also soft skills that are very useful in the workplace, such as communication, teamwork in facing challenges, and problem-solving for every existing problem.

In addition, I was very impressed with the company culture that upholds religious values, such as praying together every morning and reading the Quran together on Fridays. This experience has prepared me to face future challenges.

I am very grateful for the opportunity given by PT DAI. And I would like to express my sincere thanks to all the staff, colleagues, and mentors who have helped and guided me during my internship at PT DAI until I officially became part of the PT DAI team. This internship experience will be a fond memory and will be a valuable asset for me.
